Have the conduct rules in China's Anti-Monopoly Law earned Mao Zedong's 'paper tiger' label? After nearly a year and a half, they remain largely dormant. But there are signs the coming Year of the Tiger will show that the conduct rules have real teeth.
Join us as Hong Kong-based Gerry O'Brien looks ahead to the Chinese New Year of antitrust law with Washington's Chris Kelly. Drawing on the Chinese enforcement agencies' latest published and informal guidance, as well as several recent court decisions, Gerry will identify the sectors and business practices likely to be selected for scrutiny. The session will also look at key lessons from China's merger control decisions to date, and the prospect that China will begin penalizing non-compliance with its far-reaching merger filing requirements.
