Location of event
In the past 18 months we have established five Local Authority Observatories on Active Inclusion ( LAOs ), which have promoted mutual learning and analysis of the links between local, national and European policies on Active Inclusion.
Cities play a crucial role in the successful governance and delivery of social services, in particular for the target groups of the European Active Inclusion Strategy. In the face of new challenges and emerging trends in service provision, cities innovate in their service delivery through increased policy integration and reinforced cooperation across government levels, service providers and NGOs.
On July 8 we will present our findings on how cities shape their housing and employment services in order to contribute to the social inclusion of those furthest away from the labour market. We will discuss with representatives of cities, stakeholder organisations and European institutions how to best join forces to realise the ambitions of the Active Inclusion Strategy and inspire future policy developments at European level. The event will also look forward to the future activities of the enlarged EUROCITIES-NLAO. The programme will feature:
* Launch of the EUROCITIES-NLAO European Report
* Panel debate with representatives from the European Commission, national/regional governments, Local Authority Observatories and European stakeholder organisations
* Workshops showcasing Local Practices in service delivery
* Outlook on the activities of EUROCITIES-NLAO in the second half of 2010
