Location of event

Though parliamentary elections have taken place in Iraq already in March, negotiation talks are still ongoing. And although the security situation is still unstable, the American withdrawal continues, bringing down the number of troops to 50.000 by end August 2010. The democratic transformation process of the country is thus far from being implemented. International commitment to reconstruction of and further assistance to Iraq is still needed, probably for years to come.

We want to discuss the difficult negotiation talks and the EU’s role in Iraq.
