The ERRIN network recognizes that European regions have a lot to contribute and to gain from the Innovation for development debate: on the one hand ERRIN regions can contribute good practice to developing countries on how to develop and manage dynamic innovation systems and facilitate the interaction between innovation systems in developing countries and in Europe; on the other hand, Innovations and Technologies developed by the European scientific and Industrial community could usefully be applied to resolving some of the most pernicious development challenges.
Moreover, developing countries offer huge market opportunities for innovative products developed or designed with their specific market needs and conditions in mind. In this context the ERRIN network has decided to organize this seminar to discuss the state of play in the innovation for development debate, to showcase the initiatives and mechanisms put in place by individual regions in this field and to discuss collaboration opportunities in this domain for the future.
