Walter De Brouwer has been appointed Chairman of RSA’s Europe Fellowship. De Brouwer studied Philology and then did his PhD in Semiotics at the University of Tilburg but left academia in 1989 to become an entrepreneur.
In 17 years’ time he set up more than 40 companies, was involved in several international IPO’s and stood at the cradle of long-distance carriers in two continents. Today he presides the board of Fork Capital in Brussels and is one of the directors of the Tau Zero Foundation (formerly NASA’s Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Project). In 2006 De Brouwer returned to academia: at the moment he is a professor at the International University of Monaco.
